About the Program
The mission of the New London Community Orchestra includes a strong commitment to music education. As part of our mission, we have established Music City Strings, a program offering free music lessons in New London. Teachers and mentors help elementary school children learn to play the violin in an after-school program in downtown New London.
The instruments for the program are donated by orchestra members, violin shops, and others in the community. All instrument maintenance and repair costs are covered by the New London Community Orchestra. Anyone with an instrument to donate can contact the orchestra at firstname.lastname@example.org. Instrument sizes needed include ¼, ½, and ¾ violins and cellos, as well as junior violas.
